- NEW YORK, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Anthony R. "Andy" Martin will be
- interviewed today, Friday, January 19, 1996 over KIRO-AM Radio in Seattle
- (Dave Ross Show) and will predict that Microsoft Corp. is going to crash
- in 1996.
-
- "I know the stock market seers are saying Microsoft is doing just
- fine," says Martin. "But upon review of the latest numbers I take a
- distinctly contrarian view. I think that Microsoft has become an
- electronic Ponzi scheme. When sales of their major consumer product are
- plummeting, how long can earnings increase? When there isn't a decent
- piece of software selling in the entire industry, how long can the new
- iron go out the door? We are poised for a classic collapse in the
- personal computer industry. The obvious numbers are there but people do
- not want to 'believe.' When you add a softening economy, it all spells
- 'c-o-1-1-a-p-s-e.' "Furthermore, I think Microsoft is engaging in
- sophisticated 'cooking of the books.' Gates should get a diplomate in
- culinary arts, not technology. By massaging the expenses which are
- recognized from Windows 95, they have added an unknown instability factor
- to their earnings which is going to come back to haunt them. I would not
- be surprised if the very analysts who are telling the public Microsoft
- prospects look rosy are quietly 'Doing a Fidelity' in private. The
- numbers just do not add up for the Industry and for Microsoft. The
- negative momentum is so strong and so obvious it is pathetic.
-
- "I will be available to the public on KIRO Radio today, taking on all
- comers, including Microsoft shills who always call in when I am heard in
- Seattle. When is Gates going to come out of his media-massaged cocoon and
- confront reality? When? Microsoft's practices are killing the personal
- computer industry -- which it helped to create. By trying to monopolize
- every aspect of the business it has created a declining economy for
- everyone: without new competition, and new products, which are nowhere on
- the horizon, the personal computer industry is about to become a glorified
- version of the automobile industry. Even the laird of the manor cannot
- prosper when the serfs are starving," Martin concludes.
